Christmas concert
Every year our school, as many others, has a Christmas concert to which parents and families in general are invited. Even though in our school we have a religious studies teacher, it is not a compulsory subject for all students. Every family decides whether to attend to those lessons or to go to the general 'alternatives' class in which we deal with similar topics (such as respect, tolerance, acceptance...) but without a religious focus. With this context in mind our yearly Christmas celebration is not necesary focused on traditional singing of Christmas carols but it may have other storyline behind.
We like the idea of using the Comenius Project as a starting point for this celebration. We have done it before and find it is a good 'warm up' for launching the Project as well as a good dissemination activity among all families. We have done it with previous projects with great success and decided that 'Landmarks and Monuments' had to be there this year too.
We painted a big logo for the stage background so Mark and Mona where there during all the concert and it was contextualised for all attendants in the concert presentation. Dissemination was even bigger since Barcelona TV came to film during the gereral rehearsal and a short video was aired on tv.
Since the first module of work is our city, this year's Chistmas play was titled: 'Oh! Barcelona! The story goes with a group of tourists from diferent nationalities that are visiting our city and therefore visit some of our Landmarks and Monuments. Every class then performed a song or a dance related to different city spots.
Here you have the link the tv program our school starts on the minute 19:18.
