President of Ireland launches our Project
On Friday 28 September 2012, President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins visited St. Michael’s School to launch our Comenius Partnership Project entitled ‘Landmarks and Monuments’.
President Higgins was very pleased to learn that the project had a local as well as an international dimension. “I am very pleased to know the pupils of St. Michael’s will be able to look not only on local and national landmarks but also at heritage in their immediate environment.”
He added: “It is encouraging to be here today and to know that this school and other schools across Europe are ensuring that our children enthusiastically embrace the broad cultural diversity, and learn about understanding and respecting the traditions, of our European friends and partners.”
His parting words were to the pupils, “May you enjoy it all. Have great fun doing it. Be endlessly curious and may it last you all your lives”
