The Walking Bus
This was an organised early morning activity to encourage pupil to walk to school. Some teachers and parents supervised the walk. This activity was important for developing the citizenship skills of pupils. The starting point of the walk was St. Bridget's Church in Ballybane. This is a modern church designed in the manner of an ancient Irish house - circular, with a low wall, and a pointed roof. In ancient times the roof would have been constructed from timber and rushes.

Homes around the World
The pupils of fifth class (Ms Staunton) researched how houses in different parts of the world were constructed. The materials available, the lifestyle of the people, and the environment in which they lived, all had an influence on the way the house was constructed.
